How Strong Is Your Immune Resistance?

Resistance is a property of a well balanced, well functioning body (A WELL ADJUSTED BODY). The greater your resistance the more stress your body can handle without effect. Stressors at this level are like a speed bump that you quickly pop over and past.

Low resistance means only a small amount of stress can be handled before your body blows out! This level is like treading water; you just keep a handle on the most basic day-to-day stress. Any extra immune, emotional, physical or chemical stressors quickly overwhelm the body, leaving you in a state of bother. Lots of you will easily relate to this feeling of just keeping your head above water!

If the stressors continue to overwhelm your resistance, the sympathetic nervous system will go onto overdrive. Leading to an overactive state where the body is constantly frantic, fatigued, sleeping poorly, hard to switching off, restless, irritable, moody, and to top it off a foggy/fuzzy head.

An Extreme State of Health!

Imagine this scenario in your head.maxresdefault

You are out at your favourite local restaurant with friends celebrating something magical.  A birthday, an anniversary, a raise or even Friday. Everyone orders a refreshing beverage and some nibbles that match the drinks perfectly (and you didn’t even mean to pair it so perfectly). Suddenly you hear the sound of something quickly pushed to the side like it fell over. Everyone looks over and notices a 30 something male stumbling around and vomiting into the garbage bin next to the bar. He is pale, looks like he may have a beer belly and he smells awful (the person to your right may of gave you all of their food because they lost their appetite). You look over at the bartender shaking her head. She is slim in figure, has thin blonde hair, seems like she has a lot of makeup on and may be a bit clumsy. She is a similar age to the man who is making a scene in the restaurant.

Now lets make some first impressions on who is healthier.

Most people who I talk to have made the guess that the bartender is the healthier one between the two. No outwardly symptoms, one would imagine she doesn’t smell like the man and she seems to have more energy.

The Magic Bullet

We live in a society where the ‘quick’ reins supreme. Fast food, same day delivery, fast weight loss, quick pain relief and the list goes on and on, but what is this really doing to us? How is this serving us? Yes we are getting our fat free, low cal, no carb/high carb orange decaf mocha frappuccino in record times where even Usain Bolt starts to worry, but it starts to put unrealistic expectations on the reality of our situations especially towards our health.

Most people are looking for that one thing at that one time to “cure” them of everything that they have going one and it simply doesn’t work like that.  Dr. John Demartini said “Those looking for the magic bullet often get shot” and this reins true to our health where we spend the time and money to fix something but in reality we are just masking the symptoms and letting the underlying problem continue to fester.

One of the core principals in Chiropractic stated in Ralph W. Stephenson’s book the Chiropractic Textbook is The Principal of Time where it states, “there is no process that does not require time” and this applies to everything. Lets look at learning. Can we really expect to learn a new thing instantly? Do you remember how long it took you to walk? How long it took you to write? How long it took you to talk to "that girl/boy you liked"? I'm sure some of us are still learning some of these. How can our health be any different? We were born with the potential of true health and we are the ones that over time that have compromised that potential. Do you have 5,10, 20 or even 50 years of poor health choices? Did those poor choices affect the way your nervous system works? How has your body coped with those choices? Can you expect your body to magically get back to that point of optimal health? It's going to take some time, commitment and patience on your part.
